Patients in Lincolnshire will benefit from generous charitable donations to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

Local Hope, a charity making positive changes in Boston by raising funds for projects in the Boston area. Local Hope have tirelessly raised over £10,000 for the trauma and orthopaedics service at their local hospital.

This money will be used by the service, which provides surgery to treat injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves) and will go towards purchasing a £10,000 mobile ultrasound machine and a new iPad and case for the department costing £800.

The ultrasound machine will be used to help deliver local pain relief blocks to patients with a hip fracture.

The iPad and case was presented to the hospital’s theatres specifically for paediatric patients travelling to theatre for surgery. It will be used to help distract children during their journey to surgery.

Samantha Goy, Matron for Theatres, said: “We cannot thank Local Hope enough for their continued support to Pilgrim. This donation will make a huge difference to the patients who find themselves in need of our services.

“The ultrasound machine will make a huge impact on the treatment of our patients whilst they wait for their surgery by keeping them pain free and comfortable.

“The iPad will be great for the children we see in theatres, allowing them to access child-friendly material. It will make such a big difference to what can be an incredibly stressful time for children and their parents.”
