Meeting the clinical priorities of Grantham – new temporary 24/7 Urgent Treatment Centre now open
The team behind Urgent Treatment Centres at Lincoln, Skegness, Boston, Louth and Peterborough – rated as Outstanding for responsiveness by the CQC in their most recent report – has opened the doors to the latest addition to the family on Monday, 22 June 2020.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) will provide a temporary, 24/7 Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) on the Grantham Hospital site.
The decision to introduce a temporary UTC was taken by the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Board of Directors earlier this month, as part of plans to provide a COVID-free ‘Green’ site at Grantham Hospital.
By not admitting emergency patients, who cannot be tested for coronavirus before arrival, the new UTC will help to safeguard the COVID free status of the hospital site and mean urgent treatment for conditions including cancer can be delivered in as safe a way as possible.
To ensure consistency of care for local people, LCHS has taken steps to ensure that many of the staff who worked in the former Grantham Accident and Emergency department will be providing care and support at the new UTC.
Although the new temporary Urgent Treatment Centre is open for walks-ins 24/7, LCHS is asking patients to Talk before you Walk to ensure they get the right care, first time, every time.
