NHS Health Check - Working together to improve your health

NHS Health Check
Everyone is at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease. The good news is that these conditions can often be prevented - even if you have a history of them in your family. Have your free NHS Health Check and you will be better prepared for the future and be able to take steps to maintain or improve your health.
The NHS Health Check is for adults in England between the ages of 40 and 74, and is being introduced over the next five years. It will give you and your GP a clearer picture of your health, and help you take action to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, type two diabetes and kidney disease.
The introduction of NHS Health Check across England started in 2009, but full implementation of the programme will take some time and is not expected until 2012/13. That means that some people may not receive their invitation to the check until after this time. In the meantime, if you are worried about your health, you should contact your GP in the usual way.
