About Us

NHS Lincolnshire is responsible for improving health and health services for the people of Lincolnshire.

NHS Lincolnshire is at the heart of your local NHS. We are responsible for commissioning (planning and buying) healthcare for approximately 740,000 people across Lincolnshire. This healthcare includes services such as:

  • Visiting your GP
  • Picking up a prescription
  • Having your eyes tested
  • Going to the dentist
  • Having treatment in hospital

How we fit into the NHS structure

NHS Lincolnshire is the Primary Care Trust covering the majority of the county of Lincolnshire. The Strategic Health Authority for the region is NHS East Midlands.

What is a Primary Care Trust?

A Primary Care Trust (PCT) has many different roles and responsibilities, but essentially we are here to engage with local people and to understand their needs. Our aim is to improve the health and well-being of the people of Lincolnshire.

Transition - Changes to the NHS

Primary Care Trusts are scheduled to be abolished in April 2013, to be replaced by Clinical Commissioning Groups. Click here to find out more about the transition
