CQUIN - Commissioning for Quality and Innovation

The Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) payment framework makes a proportion of providers’ income conditional on quality and innovation

National standard contracts require commissioners to make 1.5% of contract value for providers to earn.

Goals should reflect local priorities which must be stretching and focused.

CQUIN goals are influenced by:

  • Local & national priorities
  • Commissioner/provider discussions
  • Local clinical engagement
  • Patient and public involvement

CQUIN helps to ensure that quality is part of the commissioner-provider discussion everywhere.
