General
The following have been implemented on NHS Lincolnshire to make it accessible:
- Semantic structuring so the content of the page is seperated by style. This allows the user to alter the page as they wish
- Jump to content and jump to navigation so you can skip the navigation at the top if you wish
- Access keys to get to key information fast
- A sitemap (contents page): so you can get to all the pages by clicking
- Fluid layout so it works on different sized computer screens
- Flexible type size, You can make the text larger again by changing your web browser settings
- The site has been designed through a user centred design process; this puts the users at the forefront of the design process
- This website can be customised how you wish and be used with a screenreader

Changing the font size
You can change the font size, style and colour, and choose an alternative colour for links. You can also change background and foreground colours.
- You can usually change the text size by using the buttons at the top of the webpage
- You can also hold down Ctrl and roll the wheel on your mouse
Internet Explorer on a PC
To alter the text size:
- Select the View menu at the top of your window
- Scroll down and select the Text size option
To ignore font and background colours:
- Choose the Internet options from the Tools menu at the top of the window
- On the general tab click the Accessibility button
- This takes you to a menu where you can choose to ignore the way the page is formatted
- Then return to the Internet options menu
- Use the Colours and Fonts buttons to set your preferences

- Select Preferences from the Edit menu at the top of the window
- Click on Web content and uncheck the Show style sheets option
- Return to the list of preferences and choose Web browser
- Click on Language/fonts and choose the size you need

Contrast
You can change the contrast by clicking on the change contrast button at the top of the screen.
PDF documents
All documents on our site will require Adobe Acrobat to be installed on your computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free.
Most computers already have the correct software to open these document formats. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader (for viewing and reading PDFs), you can download the free software from the Adobe website.
Each PDF file should open in a new window.
Saving documents to your computer
- If you have a PC, right-click on the link to the document. If you use a Mac, hold down the mouse button over the link. In both cases, a popup menu will appear
- Scroll down the menu and click on Save target as
- Choose a folder on your computer where you can save the document

Publications can be made available to suit different service user groups, for example sight or hearing impaired people. Materials are also available in different formats, for example, large print and Braille.
